Yeosu, Republic of Korea — 3–5 September 2026 — Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Filipus Nino Pereira, participated in the 2026 World Island Cities Conference, officially opened in Yeosu, Republic of Korea. The conference brings together representatives of island cities and territories, international organisations, and experts from various countries to exchange experiences and discuss sustainable development of island communities, marine and coastal ecosystem conservation, cultural preservation and exchange, sustainable tourism, innovation, and economic opportunities related to island territories.
Held at Sonokam Yeosu, the conference forms an important part of the 2026 World Island Fair Yeosu Korea, an international event dedicated to island development.
"Islands of the World, Promise of the Future"
Under this theme, the event serves as an international platform for sharing case studies and experiences, strengthening cooperation among stakeholders, and exploring long-term strategies to promote a sustainable future for island communities and regions around the world.
The participation of delegations from island cities and territories across different continents reflects growing international interest and commitment to advancing sustainable development and strengthening the resilience of island communities, particularly in addressing global challenges and pursuing future development opportunities.
대한민국 여수 — 2026년 9월 3~5일 — 필리푸스 니노 페레이라(Filipus Nino Pereira) 상공산업부 장관은 대한민국 여수에서 공식 개막한 「2026 세계 도서도시 콘퍼런스」에 참석했다. 이번 콘퍼런스에는 세계 각국의 도서도시 및 도서 지역 대표, 국제기구와 각국 전문가들이 참석하여 섬 공동체의 지속가능한 발전, 해양 및 연안 생태계 보전, 문화유산의 보존과 교류, 지속가능한 관광, 혁신 및 도서 지역과 관련된 경제적 기회 등을 논의하고 경험을 공유했다.
이번 콘퍼런스는 소노캄 여수(Sonokam Yeosu)에서 개최되며, 섬의 발전을 주요 의제로 하는 국제 행사인 「2026 세계섬박람회」의 주요 프로그램 가운데 하나로 진행된다.
