Secretário Estado da Arte e Cultura
The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Nino Pereira, together with the Secretary of State for Art and Culture, Mr. Jorge Soares Cristovão, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Timor-Leste to Korea, Mr. António de Sá Benevides, met with the Commissioner of the Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority, Mr. Koo Choong-gon.
During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on economic and cultural cooperation opportunities between Timor-Leste and South Korea. Key points discussed included investment and trade; exploring possibilities for partnerships in the manufacturing and logistics sectors; cultural exchanges; promoting art and culture programs to strengthen bilateral relations; and sustainable development through learning from South Korea's experience with free economic zones to apply them in Timor-Leste.
The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Nino Pereira, expressed his sincere appreciation to the Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority (GFEZ) for receiving the Timor-Leste delegation with hospitality and for the opportunity to learn from Korea's experience.
Minister Nino Pereira also added that Timor-Leste sees great potential to deepen economic cooperation with South Korea, specifically in manufacturing, renewable energy, infrastructure, logistics, fisheries and maritime industries, agro-processing, digital technology, and other productive sectors.
He emphasized that as a full member of ASEAN, Timor-Leste has entered a new stage of regional economic integration, which creates new opportunities for investment and a strong platform to connect with the ASEAN market.
During the meeting, the Gwangyang Authority also presented a video regarding the GFEZ, which was designated as a free economic zone in October 2003 with the vision of becoming a business center in Northeast Asia.

상공부 장관 니누 페레이라(Nino Pereira), 예술문화국 국무차관 호르헤 소아레스 크리스토방(Jorge Soares Cristovão), 그리고 주한 동티모르 특명전권대사 안토니오 데 사 베네비데스(António de Sá Benevides)가 광양만권경제자유구역청장 구충곤과 면담을 가졌다.
이번 회담에서 양측은 동티모르와 대한민국 간의 경제 및 문화 협력 기회를 교환했다. 주요 논의된 요점은 투자 및 교역; 제조업 및 물류 부문 파트너십 가능성 모색; 문화 교류; 예술 및 문화 프로그램을 통한 양국 관계 강화 및 지속가능한 발전으로, 동티모르에 적용하기 위해 한국의 경제자유구역 경험으로부터 학습하는 것이 포함되었다.
상공부 장관 니누 페레이라는 동티모르 대표단을 환대해 준 광양만권경제자유구역청(GFEZ)과 한국의 경험으로부터 배울 기회를 준 것에 대해 진심 어린 감사를 표명했다.
니누 페레이라 장관은 또한 동티모르가 대한민국과의 경제 협력을 심화할 수 있는 큰 잠재력을 보고 있으며, 특히 제조업, 신재생에너지, 인프라, 물류, 어업 및 해양 산업, 농산물 가공, 디지털 기술 및 기타 생산 부문에서 그러하다고 덧붙였다.
그는 아세안의 정식 회원국으로서 동티모르는 지역 경제 통합의 새로운 단계에 진입했으며, 이는 투자를 위한 새로운 기회와 아세안 시장과 연결될 수 있는 강력한 플랫폼을 창출한다고 강조했다.
이번 회담에서 광양청은 또한 2003년 10월 동북아시아의 비즈니스 중심지가 되겠다는 비전을 가지고 경제자유구역으로 지정된 GFEZ에 관한 비디오를 상영했다.
