The Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in the Republic of Korea has officially opened a Book of Condolence to honor H.E. Dr. Francisco Guterres "Lú-Olo" — former President of Timor-Leste (2017–2022), former President of the National Parliament, former President of the Constituent Assembly, and distinguished freedom fighter — who passed away on 21 June 2026.
In strict observance of the national mourning period, the National Flag of Timor-Leste at the Embassy premises in Seoul is being flown at half-mast. The Embassy warmly invites Members of the Diplomatic Corps, international organizations, and friends of Timor-Leste to pay their final respects and sign the Book of Condolence.
H.E. Ambassador António de Sá Benevides expressed his deepest, sincere appreciation to everyone who has reached out, conveyed their thoughts, and paid solemn tribute to the late President. Notable representatives from numerous high-profile diplomatic missions have joined in solidarity during this period of mourning.
