On 15 June 2026, Mr. Hugo Immanuel Garcia, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Seoul, accompanied by Mr. Antonio Samta, Third Secretary, and Ms. Octavia Soares, Justice Attaché, held a meeting with the Trade and Investment Unit (TIU) of the ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) to discuss Timor-Leste’s participation in the upcoming ASEAN Panorama Exhibition.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on preparations for the exhibition and explore ways to effectively present Timor-Leste to Korean and international audiences.
Showcasing Timor-Leste’s ASEAN Journey and Cultural Identity
Discussions focused on presenting Timor-Leste’s journey toward ASEAN membership while highlighting the country’s rich cultural heritage, national identity, traditional arts, and locally produced goods. Particular emphasis was placed on creating an exhibition experience that reflects the nation’s unique history, values, and aspirations.
Rather than focusing solely on commercial promotion, the exhibition will offer visitors a broader understanding of Timor-Leste’s culture, creativity, and contribution to the ASEAN community.
Government Support for Participation
Timor-Leste’s participation in the ASEAN Panorama Exhibition is supported by the Government of Timor-Leste through the Secretary of State for Arts and Culture. This support reflects the Government’s commitment to promoting the country’s cultural assets and strengthening people-to-people connections within the region.
Appreciation to the ASEAN-Korea Centre
The Embassy of Timor-Leste expresses its sincere appreciation to the ASEAN-Korea Centre for providing this valuable platform for Timor-Leste to engage with the Korean public and the wider ASEAN community.
The Embassy looks forward to working closely with the Centre and other partners to ensure a successful and meaningful participation in the exhibition.
