SEOUL, REPUBLIC OF KOREA — 14 September 2026 — H.E. António de Sá Benevides, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to the Republic of Korea, paid an official visit to the headquarters of Hanil on 14 September 2026, following an invitation from the company.
The Ambassador was warmly received by Mr. Kang Jae Sung, Chief Executive Officer of Hanil, together with members of the company’s management and staff.
During the visit, Ambassador Benevides presented Timor-Leste’s business and investment opportunities, highlighting the country’s potential for cooperation with Korean companies and investors. Discussions focused on opportunities to strengthen economic and commercial relations between Timor-Leste and the Republic of Korea, particularly in areas where Korean technology and expertise could contribute to Timor-Leste’s development.
As part of the visit, Ambassador Benevides toured Hanil’s facilities and was introduced to the company’s electrical, technological, and related production capabilities. The visit provided an opportunity to gain a better understanding of Hanil’s expertise, products, and technological solutions.
Ambassador Benevides expressed his appreciation to CEO Kang Jae Sung and the Hanil team for the invitation and warm hospitality. He welcomed the opportunity to explore potential areas of cooperation, particularly in sectors that could support sustainable economic development and technological advancement in Timor-Leste.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to promote stronger economic, business, and investment ties between Timor-Leste and the Republic of Korea, while encouraging greater engagement between Timor-Leste and Korean private-sector companies.
Both sides expressed their interest in maintaining dialogue and exploring potential opportunities for future cooperation.
