In his congratulatory remarks, Ambassador Benevides commended the Sunfull Foundation for its 19 years of dedicated efforts to promote human rights, mutual respect, tolerance, and positive communication.
He emphasized the importance of addressing emerging challenges in the digital age, particularly AI-generated deepfakes, malicious comments, and cyberbullying, which can undermine human dignity, social harmony, and trust.
“I warmly congratulate the Sunfull Foundation on its 19th anniversary and commend its continued commitment to promoting human rights. In today’s digital society, protecting human dignity and encouraging responsible and respectful communication are more important than ever.”
Ambassador Benevides also highlighted the importance of education, awareness, and international cooperation in creating a safer and more inclusive digital environment, particularly for young people.
The event was attended by members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions, human rights advocates, and other distinguished guests.
The ceremony also marked the appointment of the 2026 Human Rights Ambassadors, reaffirming participants' commitment to advancing human rights and fostering a culture of mutual respect and peaceful communication.
As Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Seoul, Ambassador Benevides underscored the importance of cooperation among nations in addressing new challenges to human rights and promoting peace, dignity, and mutual understanding in the digital era.
