During the visit, the students had the privilege of meeting His Excellency Antonio de Sa Benevides, Ambassador of Timor-Leste to the Republic of Korea. Ambassador Benevides warmly welcomed the students and delivered an introduction to Timor-Leste, highlighting the country's history, culture, people, development, and relations with the Republic of Korea.
The students demonstrated considerable interest throughout the session and actively engaged in an open and constructive exchange with the Ambassador. They raised a wide range of questions concerning Timor-Leste's society and culture, daily life, education, and the experiences and aspirations of young people in the country. Ambassador Benevides responded to their questions and shared his knowledge and personal experiences, contributing to an informative and meaningful discussion.
The study tour also provided the students with an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the profession of diplomacy. Mr. Antonio Santa, Third Secretary of the Embassy, introduced the students to the roles and responsibilities of diplomats and shared insights into diplomatic practice, including representing their country abroad, engaging with governments and communities, participating in official meetings and events, and fostering cooperation and mutual understanding between countries.
